"Some men see things as they are and ask, “Why?” I dream things that never were and ask, “Why not?”
- Robert F. Kennedy
This is one of my favorite quotes and a guiding principle that I use daily. My main career goal is to never stop learning, growing and improving. And over the past 20+ years, I've used this principle to gain diverse experience through formal education and informal opportunities.
I started my career in Compensation in 2009. Prior to that, I held various roles in Financial Services and Corporate Accounting. Although I have a passion for numbers and analysis, I never felt these roles were the right fit for me. When a Compensation role opened up at my then current company, I took a chance and applied. And from day 1, I was hooked!
My first role was with a large, global manufacturing company. I learned the basics: making recommendations, leveling jobs, managing surveys, administering merit cycles and creating salary ranges.
After five years in this role, I transitioned to an Advisor for a global Financial Services company. Here I added additional skills: managing the global bonus plan, due diligence and acquisitions. I also became involved in the annual proxy statement and created the process for CEO Pay Ratio.
After seven years in this role, I transitioned to manager roles where I built and managed Compensation functions.
I'm currently an HR Leader and have broadened my experience into Benefits and Total Rewards, HR Systems, Operations, Payroll and Compliance.
